Directions to the Monastery Chapel & Guesthouse by Car

Parking at the monastery: Parking at the monastery is extremely limited; we encourage guests to use public transportation if at all possible. Space cannot be guaranteed, and guests requiring parking must call ahead to check availability. We have parking available for overnight guests only.

LANDMARKS: Should you get lost (which is not uncommon) and need to ask someone for additional directions, these landmarks may be helpful: The monastery is located in Cambridge on Memorial Drive, facing the Charles River and several blocks from Harvard Square. The monastery is next to the John F. Kennedy School of Government (Harvard University) and the JFK Park. The entrance to our parking lot is on the back side of the monastery, on University Road, close to the service entrance to the Charles Hotel in Cambridge. University Road "dead-ends" at our parking lot.

Driving from points north into Boston on Rt. 1,
exit from the Tobin Bridge onto Storrow Drive. Follow Storrow Drive to the Harvard Square exit in Cambridge. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right at the traffic signal onto a bridge (crossing the Charles River). This is JFK Drive. Having crossed the bridge, go straight through the intersection/traffic signal (which is at Memorial Drive). One block beyond Memorial Drive turn left at the traffic signal onto Eliot Street. Go one block to the next traffic signal, turning left (at a 45o angle) onto Bennett Street. Go one block (passing the Charles Hotel on your left) to the stop sign at University Road. Turn left and drive about one block to a dead end: the gray wooden fence surrounding our parking lot and garden.

Driving toward Boston from points on the south shore on Rt. 3,
take I-90 (The Mass Pike) WEST. Take the Allston/Cambridge exit from the Pike. Cross over the bridge and immediately turn left onto Memorial Drive. Memorial Drive will follow the Charles River. In less than a mile, turn right onto JFK Avenue. In one block, turn left at the traffic signal onto Eliot Street. Go one block to the next traffic signal, turning left (at a 45o angle) onto Bennett Street. Go one block (passing the Charles Hotel on your left) to the stop sign at University Road. Turn left and drive about one block to a dead end: the gray wooden fence surrounding our parking lot and garden.

Driving from points west of Boston on I-95/Rt. 128,
take I-90 (The Mass Pike) EAST. Take the Allston/Cambridge exit from the Mass Pike. Follow the instructions in the above paragraph.

Upon parking
Please close the gates and walk outside the gray fence to Memorial Drive. Turn right at the sidewalk, walking along the gray fence and proceeding past the chapel and through the brown wooden gates marking the Guesthouse garden and office. The entrance to the Guesthouse is at the far end of the garden.
