The plan for renovation
To fulfill our mission in the 21st century, we must:
- Refurbish restrooms in the guesthouse and monastery
- Replace windows in the guesthouse and the monastery.
- Repair the leaking chapel roof and walls.
- Replace the 1960s steam heating and ventilation systems; install air conditioning with environmentally-responsible systems.
- Make the guesthouse, chapel, and monastery more handicapped-accessible.
- Refurbish a range of meeting spaces for one-on-one conversations, retreat groups of up to 20 people, and workshops and receptions for as many as 100 people, as well as office spaces for brothers and staff members.
- Create a common room in the monastery to accommodate all the brothers comfortably.
- Light the chapel tower to increase our visibility and witness.
- Install a stone and stucco, sound-deflecting wall around the perimeter of the property.
- Re-insulate the building for both temperature and sound.
- Rewire the 60 year-old electrical system and re-plumb the entire building.
