Why SSJE: James Woodman
A lot of people think that fifty-three is young to be making a bequest. But it’s a matter of astonishment to me that people don’t take more care in thinking about these things. Life happens to us, very unexpectedly, and if you haven’t made a plan, you could lose the chance to express your wishes, which is a terrible shame. I think institutions matter a lot, and they don’t just grow by themselves. They need support. It’s clear to me that SSJE is important and unique—they’re doing this remarkable thing of trying to live the Gospel. It comes naturally to me to try to help them do that.
