Gallery: Fall 2021

We invite you to join us in welcoming Autumn in prayer with this gallery of seasonal images from SSJE. And we hope you'll join us in worship. Live-streaming schedule >

Almighty and everlasting God, you made the universe with
all its marvelous order, its atoms, worlds, and galaxies, and
the infinite complexity of living creatures: Grant that, as we
probe the mysteries of your creation, we may come to know
you more truly, and more surely fulfill our role in your
eternal purpose; in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I still recall vividly what a privilege it was for me to be a guest at the guesthouse on three retreats, two silent and one guided. It was and is a privilege because it is ultimately the work of the Spirit that prompted all three visits, and the gift from God to be receptive to that work. Like so many others, the past two years or so have been challenging, with the concept of “normal” changing daily. The wonderful images of the fall bring to mind the hymn, based on St. Francis, “All Creatures of Our God and King” which celebrates all of creation, including nature.

Thank you for your faithfulness in living into and out your vocations.

Thank you for this elegant collection of images — they breathe SSJE! I find the third one heart-warming-est as it brings me back to being on retreats, returning from the refectory meal in a meandering line of well-fed fellow guests on the way to the guesthouse turning the corner in that narrow incense laden antechamber, eyes drawn to the deep reservoir chapel presence exactly as your view has it, the pause right there. So vividly memorable and especially welcome now as daylight & warmth feel scarcer — that peace, resolution of the full measure of minor everyday desolation/isolation. Really good.

Beautiful pictures! Great eye for photography! Thanks for sharing. I cannot wait for the next time I can physically be present in the chapel with all the Brothers. Time marches on. I am thankful for your faithful service.
