Covid update from the Monastery

Please note: The Chapel will not be open for public worship this week, including on Sunday, 24 July. We very much regret this decision, but we believe it is the safest course of action for the Brothers, and members of our worshipping congregations.

While the Chapel will be closed for public worship, we will continue to livestream many of our services and hope that you will join us online. A complete schedule of livestreamed services can be found at www.SSJE.org/Chapel.

Dear Saint John brothers, I grew up with nightly compline in Ireland. So I am rediscovering it now in my later years. Your sung compline is such an inspiration and a lovely, calm way to wind down the day. I miss it. I hope all of you do well and recover completely. Blessings, Martina from Coastal N Carolina.

So very sorry. Hoping for a rapid recovery for any with COVID. It seems like a rite of passage at this point. I hope the disease process has not been too challenging. Bless you all. Your ministry is so important to so many.

Dear Br James and Brothers, you are in my prayers also here in faraway Australia. My husband and I had our dose of Covid last week. Fortunately we have had all four vaccines and boosters and we had a mild dose. We are but two and you are many with so many depending on you for so much.
There was no WORD on my phone this morning when I awoke and I realised, first, how much I depend on the strength of that support and encouragement at the start of my day and through the day, and secondly, what difficulties you will be working under in all parts of the Monastery with the Virus stalking your corridors. Thank you for all you do for so many people around the world as well as in your home, we are so grateful and wish you all a quick return to health and strength. With love, Meg

Dear Br. James and Brothers, You’re in my prayers as you navigate your way through this latest COVID time of concern, disappointment, and isolation. I’m so very grateful for everything you’re able to do for all of us out here, even at times like these. Your life-giving example, your inspirational and deeply helpful messages, sermons, and writings, your wonderful live-streamed services, and the leadership of dear Br. James make such a difference in my life. I’m deeply grateful. Prayers for easy recovery, no new cases, and a prompt return to more normal times. With love, Paul
