Ministry at Emery House
We are excited to announce that, after several years of prayerful discernment, the community has made the decision to revive our ministry at Emery House. As a first step in that process, a small group of brothers will re-establish a residential community there in January. We anticipate opening our guest ministry at Emery House sometime in the spring of 2023. We will be making an announcement about further steps later in the Fall. We ask for your patience as those details emerge, and for your prayers as we respond to God’s call in West Newbury.

This is such good news! All the brothers are such wonderful hosts at The Emery House. In addition it is such a special place as I am a direct descendant of John Emery Sr.; he was my grandfather 12 generations back! I can’t wait to return.
Good news, would love to hear more about the purpose of the ministry. I am as well a descendant of the Emery family. Eleanor Emery is my 9th great grandmother. I would love to attend some services and find out more about the mission of the Brothers of SSJE.
This is such wonderful news. I’ve missed the chapel and the hermitages and look forward to returning.
May God bless the ministry there!
Very heartening news!
Great to hear! Praying for success!
Such good news to have that calm beautiful spot reopening. I know it will be good for the Brothers and for all of us.
Good News indeed. Best of everything at Emery House.

This is wonderful news…prayers ensuing
Emery House was always my favorite place for a private retreat. Sharing the silence Mass, meals , and beautiful grounds with the Brothers was a wonderful experience. I look forward to staying in one of the hermitages next year. I shall continue to keep the Community in my prayers.
So very glad to hear this! Emery House is a blessing for everyone who sets foot on its grounds.
Praise God for this direction the Brothers have taken after what I am sure was much discernment! When I was in the Scouts there’s a group called the Order of the Arrow: The brotherhood of service. Every spring and fall we would go to camp and set it up for the summer, then shut things up in the fall. All that being said if there is work that needs to be done at Emery House to help prepare it again to be a place of love, ministry and Grace – please let the greater community that supports the SSJE know. We could have a work weekend, get a lot done and possibly save some money in the process. If this is something that the brothers think would be helpful I would encourage the Society to sent out a call for service in the ministry of God. I know I would be there and I am sure many others would also! I pray God continue to bless the work and ministry of the SSJE!
I am delighted at this development – for me (!) and for the Community!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. What wonderful news.
Wonderful news!! I’m afraid I have made my last visit to Emery House. But my time there has meant so much to me and I know how much it means and has meant to others. Blessings always.
I have experienced such peace in my visits to Emery House and I look forward to visiting again once everything is settled. Many prayers for you all as you work to restart this meaningful ministry.
