Practicing Patience

PracticingPatienceIn Advent 2011, the Brothers offered a preaching series, “Practicing Patience,” followed by a simple supper and conversation.  Join us as we wait, watch, and look for the coming of the Lord.

Wait – Br. Mark Brown

Br. Mark Brown asks: “How are we to wait?” He suggests that Christian waiting need not be passive, but can be active and creative—animated by Christ’s love, creative wisdom, and Spirit.

Watch – Br. Geoffrey Tristram

Br. Geoffrey Tristram sounds the watchman’s trumpet call, the clarion call of Advent, “Look.  Wake Up.  Watch for the Signs.” And he suggests how God might be calling us, this Advent, to look clearly and honestly at our lives—and take action.

Look – Br. Curtis Almquist

How are we to look, and at what, and what for?  Br. Curtis Almquist invites us to look now, and at ourselves, and for wonder.  “Presume that your life is surrounded and informed by God’s daily visitation.”  Look for it.
